Who didn't look up to Jeff? And does the moniker, "Gentle Giant" not fit this congenial guy with the floppy bang of hair in the corner of his right eye which he would flip out by quickly jerking his head back to be able to see you with both. That was a big head swinging above me at my about 5ft10 or so to his 6feet and a half giagantis frame. After I left high school I lost track of him until he and Steve King each showed up at the Quiet Cannon Restaurant in Dana Point. Steve came first in management and then moved on only to be followed by Jeff showing up after living out of State to be serving there. I think that Steve had told Jeff to go there for work but I am not sure. Anyway, I was real glad to see him that night he served my girl friend and I dinner. We exchanged numbers and soon after we were talking about arrangements with him renting a room in my relatively spacious home in Capo. Beach where I was living alone. Jeff moved in and lived with me for six months where after a while he was restless to move on and seemed to be wanting to go to Colorado or Utah. He was quiet and somewhat sad in those months but so was I. We seemed to have found a closeness in our mutual lonliness. Jeff didn't have any children and seemed to enjoy my son Marcus a great deal when Marc would spend the weekends and holidays. He was a shy and thoughtful man and left my home a friend and comrade in our shared regrets. While Jeff could always be counted on to give a very upbeat and friendly face there was something very troubling about him that never left me. I was deeply saddened by finding out that he had suddenly died after a brief but extremely hard and painful struggle. It didn't seem that he had as much good fortune that we would have thought should have come to a young man of his personality and talent.

I had Jeff in several of my classes. I told him several times that Chamberlain or Russell couldn't stop him if he played to his potential. He seemed to like that. We never did get that pool game in that we often talked about.
