Pete was one of my very first friends when I moved to Costa Mesa a few months prior to beginning 6th grade at the new Killybrooke School. We were classmates with Mr. Hinrichs there. Pete played the flute, was an artist and baseball player. Such a nice guy. I remember meeting Reggie Von Glascow a friend of his who became a friend of mine. Pete's mom was a single mom and very progressive. Reginald was a black kid with dark thick hair which had some red and blonde in it. Pete told me this was because Reggie's dad was Dutch. Wow Pete was the first guy to be my bridge to multi-racial marriages and this was new to me even though I had lived overseas for seven years prior. Pete was killed by a utilty truck that back over him accidently while he was on his bicycle at Sacramento State University which had given him a music scholarship. He was really a wonderful and sweet natured guy. And a pretty good second baseman.

I had the privilege of meeting Pete in 1966 in the band.  We were in the saxophone section in concert band and marching band.  He was a gifted musician and was a good friend to all of us in the band.  Pete played the tenor saxophone.  He always had a smile or a joke.

At the time he died, in 1971, he and his friend were converting an old bus for a cross-country trip.  They were going to spend the summer traveling and seeing the country.  Pete was killed when the bicycle he was riding to class was hit by by a truck.  He was majoring in music in college.  I'm sure he will never be forgotten by his many friends at CMHS.
