Phil was everyone's friend and would go out of his way to drop you off at your door step after getting out of athletics late in the day and wouldn't wait for you to ask. He was easy going and very accepting of his shortcomings and never let them stand in the way of participating in some capacity or importance. The coaches found his intelligence and enthusiasm unmatched as a team manager in basketball. He wasn't skilled enough to play varsity but worked out with the team in uniform just in case some reason would call for him to step in. In a period of life where rejection and failure seemed so painful to me, I found Phil so much more mature and intelligent with how he dealt with life. His voice was never excitable or shrill or loud. He always managed and always had real thoughts that were provoking. I enjoyed him so much in Key Club even though I graduated mid year and didn't see him again until our first reunion. I was at a loss when I was told during the 30th that Phil would not be with us. He was so much more than just a basketball team player. He was a real man amongst many a boy. And I suspect, we all knew it in this fun loving and very scholarly guy.

Phil was my very best friend for many years. I was deeply saddened and cryed my eyes out when I learned of his death. Dana Rodet

Didn't know him real well but spoke to him several times. He dressed very well and as I recall wore Oxford shoes.

What a great guy Phil was. He was kind to all and had a great sense of humor. I always enjoyed working with him on school projects.
